Faithfulness.

October is nearing it's end. Here's a quick recap of my month.

I met my dad in Dallas for the U2 concert on October 12. It was nothing short of amazing. We made it about 10 minutes before Muse went on. They were great. I left halfway through to go get a U2 t-shirt because I just wasn't that concerned with seeing all of Muse's show. Don't get me wrong, Muse is in an incredible band, I just wasn't thrilled. A lot of people told me, "Muse gave U2 a run for their money." I'm not sure what show they saw.
U2 came out playing "Breathe". There was such an energy to transcend to another world. I'll never forget hearing Bono sing, "Oh spirit breathe, spririt breathe." I also loved singing along to "Justified till we die, You and I will magnify!" with Bono. And of course, the moment of the night, "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" accapella with 80,000+ people behind it. Chillingly beautiful. I always knew singing "Streets" would be an unforgettable experience. But I could have never fathomed the feeling of hearing it live. There's no way to explain it. I will never forget that awesome memory of seeing U2 live with my daddy!

That next weekend was the Yamboree in Gilmer, Texas. Yes, it is a festival showcasing sweet potatoes. There's a Yam queen, Yam duchesses, Yam contests, and Yam everything. It was a great time of rest and fun and getting to know the carnival workers. I got to play at First Baptist Gilmer on Sunday morning and I was so blessed by their heart for the Father and challenged by their devotion. Two words to remember from the week: King Curtis.

I went to Longview this past weekend and reunited with some wonderful people. God was so faithful at the retreat to move in the students and in me. He showed His faithfulness in so many ways. I long for the day when my faithfulness to God bears the image of His faithfulness to me. When my devotion to Him bears the image of the Son's devotion to the Father.

"I want to worship You like the Levites in the temple. I want to worship You like David in the field. But sometimes Lord, you know I get so temperamental. I need You to lift me up and fly me like the wind. Fly me like the wind, oh fly. " - Morning Star

Grace

I turned 21 on Saturday. Honestly, I think I had too high of expectations for how it would feel. Of course my friends and family made the day wonderful, but it still wasn't what I expected.

21 years. Many of which were wasted in religion and sin and unfulfillment. Lately I find myself praying Psalm 90:15 a lot, "Give us gladness in proportion to our former misery! Replace the evil years with good."

Grace.

The mundane tasks of life right now include class, lectures, homework, writing news stories, updating online news posts and meticulously crossing those things off my calendar as I get them done.

The more exciting daily happenings include visiting Nadine Frazier, a 73 year old with lots of good nursing home gossip to share, trying to take photographs that will win me free chicken, making music to the Father, living in a suite that helps me hone my skills in sarcasm, cheering on my old soccer team, making new friends, having old friends come visit and reading Brennan Manning's new book, "the furious longing of God."

"Jesus is saying that we may address the infinite, transcedent, almighty God with the intimacy, familiarity, and unshaking trust that a sixteen month-old baby has sitting on his father's lap."

Speaking of Daddy's, I'm going to the U2 concert next Monday with mine. I love him.

I have some friends in the Phillipines right now. Pray for them as they do what God has called us to do.

God is faithful.
